Honor has officially introduced the Play 80 Plus in China, making it the first smartphone in the global market to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor. This new device is positioned as a high-endurance 5G handset for the budget-conscious segment.
The launch marks a shift for the Play series as it adopts a 4nm architecture for the first time in this price bracket. This chipset is built to provide better power efficiency and faster processing speeds for daily tasks and moderate gaming.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 includes an octa-core CPU configuration and an upgraded Adreno GPU. Reports from the official Honor Weibo account indicate that the hardware provides a 15 percent jump in performance over the previous generation.
This silicon is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Users can also expand the memory using a virtual RAM feature that utilizes the internal storage to keep more apps open at once.
“The Honor Play 80 Plus represents our commitment to bringing next-generation performance to the high-volume market through our close collaboration with Qualcomm,” stated an Honor representative during the digital unveiling. The company also confirmed that the device is designed to handle the increased data demands of modern 5G networks without draining the battery rapidly.
A massive 6,000mAh battery serves as the primary power source for the Play 80 Plus.
Honor claims that this capacity allows for 22 hours of continuous video playback or three days of regular use without needing a wall outlet. The device supports 35W wired fast charging through a USB Type-C port. Even with the large battery, the phone maintains a relatively slim profile of 8.27mm and weighs roughly 198 grams.
The display is a 6.8-inch TFT LCD panel with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and animations. Honor has also included TUV Rheinland certification for low blue light emissions to reduce eye strain during late-night use.
For photography, the back of the phone has a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The front-facing camera uses an 8-megapixel sensor housed in a centered punch-hole cutout for video calls and selfies.

The Honor Play 80 Plus is currently available for pre-order in China and is expected to reach international markets later this year. The base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage starts at an aggressive price point to compete with other budget 5G offerings.
