Pak Suzuki Motor Company has officially entered the crossover market with the launch of the Suzuki Fronx. Marketed as the first “XUV” or Crossover SUV in its local portfolio, the vehicle is intended to bridge the gap between premium hatchbacks and larger SUVs. The announcement comes at a time when the Pakistani automotive sector is shifting toward compact crossovers due to their versatility and higher ground clearance.
The Fronx arrives in three distinct variants which include the GL Manual, GL Automatic, and the range topping GLX Automatic. According to the official pricing shared by the company, the base GL Manual starts at PKR 5,990,000. The mid spec GL Automatic is priced at PKR 6,390,000 and the fully loaded GLX Automatic carries a price tag of PKR 6,690,000. These prices are ex-dealership and reflect the current tax structure for imported units.
Under the hood, the Pakistani version of the Fronx is powered by a 1.5-liter K15B four-cylinder petrol engine. This naturally aspirated unit produces 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. While some international markets receive a 1.0-liter turbo engine, Pak Suzuki has opted for the 1.5-liter engine to ensure better reliability and parts compatibility within its existing service network. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual for the base model and a 4-speed automatic for the higher variants.
In an official statement during the unveiling event, Pak Suzuki Managing Director Hiroshi Kawamura noted that the Fronx represents a strategic move for the brand. “We are catering to a segment that values both style and functionality without compromising on the efficiency and reliability that Suzuki is known for,” he said. The company expects the Fronx to attract urban buyers who desire the aesthetic of an SUV but require the maneuverability of a compact car.
The design of the Fronx is heavily influenced by the larger Grand Vitara, featuring a bold front grille and multi element LED daytime running lights. The rear of the vehicle sports a sloping roofline and a full width LED light bar. Inside the cabin, the top tier GLX variant offers a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a 360-degree camera and a heads-up display.
Safety features are scaled across the lineup. The GLX variant comes equipped with six airbags, hill hold assist, and electronic stability program. The GL variants are limited to dual front airbags and standard ABS. The vehicle is being sold as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) which suggests a higher standard of fit and finish compared to some locally assembled models. However, being a CBU also makes the pricing sensitive to currency fluctuations and changes in import duties.
